A streaming platform and a streaming date are separate facts. A rights deal tells you who may carry a film. A premiere announcement tells you when it is scheduled to arrive. Playback in your own account is the check that answers whether you can watch it now.
Three labels that should stay distinct
Announced means an identifiable maker or platform has stated the event. Reported means a named publisher attributes the event in a dated article. Expected means an estimate or prediction. The label should remain beside the date, including on cards and calendars, so that a confident headline does not hide weaker evidence.
For example, two reports give Mandaadi a Netflix date of 8 October 2026. That supports a reported future premiere in this site's research. It does not support a claim that the film was already playable on 7 October. The Week's dated report.
Why a fixed theatre-to-OTT formula fails
A cinema opening is not a digital announcement. Jailer 2's producer page gives a theatrical date, but that source does not establish an OTT premiere. The site therefore leaves the digital field unverified. Sun Pictures.
Do not calculate a streaming date by adding a familiar number of weeks to the cinema day. Even if that interval happened for another film, it is not evidence of the contract or release plan for this one. An estimate can be useful only when it is clearly identified as an estimate; this site does not use estimates in its date table.
Historical dates are useful, but limited
Moviecrow's 8 May 2025 report records Good Bad Ugly's Netflix debut and reproduces the platform announcement. That is stronger history than an unsourced date copied into a later list. It still does not audit every country's present catalogue. Premiere report.
Netflix explains that title availability can differ by region and other account conditions. A public film page and an old debut story may remain visible even when you cannot find the film in your profile. Official help.
A five-part source check
- Match the exact film title, year and lead cast.
- Identify whether the event is theatrical, digital or a rights sale.
- Read the publication date and any later correction.
- Keep the words “reported”, “expected” and “unconfirmed” beside the day.
- Check the official service in your territory before buying access.
This method gives a useful answer even when the date is unknown. Saying what remains unverified is more accurate than filling a blank with a rumour. The OTT section applies these labels to the films covered in this research.
